~.
~~
May 15, 1985
~ iii iiiiiiiiniii iii
'/ALCO, INC.
LAMAR CONCRETE DIVISION
F. O. BOX 591
LAMAR COLORADO 81052
1;103) 336-2223
.~
I ~ I .I ~
Camille M. Farrell
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
~ I i'~ „U
This is a response to your Inspection Report dated April 17, 1985
and received by us on April 27, 1985 for the LAMAR EAST PIT
File No. M-77-572. The following narrative correspondes with the
"Recommendations" section of the Inspection Report.
Please find attached a letter from the Soil Conservation
Service relating to the sloping and seeding of the tcpsoil
stockpiles.
A map outlining the topsoil stockpiles was giv_e~r_fe-the----~
Division on March 21, 1983 with the 1982-82 Annual Report. 'y
Those stockpiles are still in place and contain the same ~.~~
amount of material as they did then. If the map has been ,~
misplaced we would be happy to provide a duplicate.
2. The breach in the river bank by the Arkansas River will be
reconstructed with material other than topsoil as soon as the
water level of the river recedes and the land becomes dry enough
to operate the equipment without getting stuck. We hope the
river will recede to that point within the next few weeks but
it could possibly be July before that occurs.
3. We will backfill with dry earth material around the railroad
bridge support structure as you recommend, however this has
never been a problem in the past, the the support was that way
prior to the "discharge outlet canal or channel" beinl
installed.

4. We need to discuss the various location where rip-rap is I ~
present, as we feel the presence of this material is vital to '
the protection of our mining area.
5. A totally completed technical revision cannot be submitted by
May 15, 1985 as a local contractor whom we have conta~:ted for
price information has not yet responded with necessar/ infor-
mation, however we will get that information as soon +js possible
and complete the revision.
ROCKY FORD PUEBLO CANON CITY
