A portion of piezometers at the mine site were observed to be
perforated to the surface. These perforations must be sealed to
eliminate mixing of surface nd groundwaters. Perforations should be
sealed both above ground and to a depth of at least 12 Inches below the
ground surface.
2. The gaging stations on Ward Creek were observed. These are either
State of Federal gaging stations. These stations were to good shape.
The gaging station on Williams Creek had been damaged by high water last
spring. The station now is not functional. A portion of the flow
bypasses the Parshall flume. The operator must install a new gaging
station, preferably before the spring peak flow. Given the range of
flows which can be encountered on this stream (up to 50 cfs), the
Division recommends that an H-flume be installed.
