• <br />(Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-iaai-n~7 <br />INSPECTION DATE: a~~g~~cr i5, 7nm <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />C~ <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: <br />1 Inspection: This inspection was conducted at the direction of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board <br />which requires that each mining operation in the State of Colorado be inspected once each four years The <br />purpose of the inspection is to examine the site for compliance with the rules and regulations of the State of <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geoloov <br />2 General: The Katuska Pit is an approximately 8 acre 110 sand and gravel operation located aooroximately 2 <br />miles northwest of Fairplav, Colorado along Platte Drive. overlooking the Middle Fork of the South Platte River. <br />The site is extremely rocky, consisting of river cobbles which have been disturbed by placer mining in the oast. <br />According to the operator, mining is nearly complete and reclamation grading is in progress. <br />3 Reclamation Plan: The reclamation plan requires that all slopes be reduced to 3h:ly, followed by the <br />establishment of 50 plants per acre of each of the following: Potentilla, Mountain Mahogany, Rabit Brush. and <br />Sage using washing_fines as a soil substitute. <br />Q Sian: The mining operation is marked with an adequate sign. <br />5 Boundaries: The boundaries are clearly marked and the operation aooears to be within their boundaries and in <br />compliance with their permit. <br />6 Bond: The bond aooears to be inadequate based upon reduction of slopes to 3:1 and re-vegetation using the <br />shrub mixture listed in the permit and in item 3 above. The bond amount to achieve this reclamation would be <br />$9.300.00. If the operator anticipates a technical revision to than ea the post mining land use this will be <br />considered in the calculation of the bond. Please advise the division if there is a change which should be <br />considered in the bond, if not please submit an additional $4.300.00 of bond. This item is being noted as a <br />problem on the followino sheet. The required increase notice, pursuant to rule 4.2.1(21, will be mailed within the <br />next few days.
