MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID#: M-1977-348 PAGE: 8
INSPECTION DATE: 10-28-04 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ACS
reclamation costs will be estimated for any grading
necessary on the re-disturbed spoil, and revegetation, and
the amount of the bond will be adjusted accordingly.
b. Provide a plan for those portions of the quarries that are
impounding water, either to allow for permanent impoundment
of water as the post mining land use, or to provide a method
in the reclamation plan to prevent the impoundment of water.
11. The DMG files contain analytical results for ground water
sampling from the four wells located below the CKD disposal site
through the sampling conducted in July 2000. It is DMG's
understanding that at least one more set of data is available
from subsequent sample collection. Please provide this, and any
other data that may be available. Once all of the information is
in to DMG, it will be reviewed to determine if any additional
actions are necessary for the protection of ground water quality
at this site.
The A6 and A7 quarry locations were inspected during this site visit.
These quarries have been completely backfilled with mine spoil, have
been capped with plant growth media, and seeded. The backfilling has
created topography vaith positive drainage, and meets the requirements
of the reclamation permit and the performance standards contained in
the regulations. The revegetation effort was observed, but not
intensively inspected. Vegetation appears to meet performance
standards, but a more rigorous inspection must be conducted prior to
consideration of bond release on these reclaimed areas.
cc: Carl Mount, DMG (via email)
Bill Schenderlein, Applegate Group (via email)
Dick Wolfe, OSE (via email)
Inspection & Enforcement Contact Address
NAME Gordon Benton
OPERATOR Holcim, Inc.
STREET P.O.
