The well is approximately G,lOD feet south of the <br />Cache La Poudre River, approximately 3,700 feet southeast of <br />the filatiron pit, approximately 4,500 £eet southeast of the <br />Mobil pit and approximately 3,500 feet northeast of the Best <br />Way Permit. The Greeley No. 3 DiCch trends east-west about <br />1,600 feeC south of the Ketler well. A spillway for carrying <br />excess storm runoff rune north-south along the easC side of <br />35th Avenue between 10th Street and the Cache La Poudre <br />River. A low-yield spring coneributes water to this spillway <br />at the intersection of C Street and 35th Avenue. <br />The vicinity of Che Ketler well has, <br />predominantly rural. Agriculture has be <br />use since the area was first setT.le <br />irrigaCion, corn, sugar beets and <br />successful cash crops. Livestock grazing <br />has also been an importanC lend use. To <br />number of gravel mining operations mine <br />of the Cache Le Poudre River. Tlie City <br />Co expand and urbanization has claimed <br />the south and west. A shopping center and relaCCd <br />development now occupies the lend. The south ~ of Section 2, <br />TSN, R66W (Figure 1) hae also been Caken ouC of agriculture. <br />This area is now residential. <br />Only a small amount of land is still irrigated in the area. A <br />small alfalfa field ed~acenC Co the Ketler property on the <br />west is presently being irrigated. In addition, a small <br />alfalfa field to the east of Che Ketler property is being <br />irrigated. The amounC of water applied to these fields is not <br />known. According to Mr. KeCler, the water level rises in the <br />t'wu shallow wells north of the problem well whenever the <br />Field to the weaC is irrigated. The water Level in Che deep <br />well has not responded to the application of irrigation <br />water.
