Southfield C-81-014
27 June 2007 ~~
Page 2/2
Backfilling and Grading: -The backfilled facilities areas remain stable. No cracking or
settling has been observed in the backfilled areas. There were no erosional problems
observed on these areas. The site received a lot of snow this past winter and it seems
to have held up very well.
Processing Waste: -The refuse pile appeared to be stable and well vegetated at the
time of the inspection. I did not inspect the hole that formed in the refuse pile in the
last several months. There were no erosional problems noted on the pile at the time
of the inspection.
Topsoil: -The topsoil pile at the parking area and the refuse pile were both well
vegetated and stable at the time of the inspection. Both piles had the proper ID
signs. No erosional problems were noted on either pile at the time of the inspection.
Revegetation/Reclamation Success: -Overall the mine site and the loadout are very
well vegetated. There are no erosional problems at either site. The loadout looks
better than I have ever seen it (my last inspection was in the spring of 2004).
Overall the reclamation at the Southfield Mine, to date, appears to be a success.
