(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-83-141
INSPECTION DATE 5/20/99 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS CLK
OBSERVATIONS
Upon the request of the Operator, DMG inspected the current state of this 110 site with
regard to the upcoming Temporary Cessation of Operations at the site.
1) At this time, all of the ore which the Operator wishes to remove, has been removed, from
the site. Two benches (around 5,000 - 10,000 tons) of ore have been left at the lower
edges of the site. Two buildings have been left in place on the northeastern corner of the
permit area, with a steep drop-off of abouC 7'-10' below the lower one. This building will
either need to be stabilized, or proved to be stable through an engineering evaluation,
if it is to be left as it is for any length of time. (PB1)
2) All of the other grading which will be done at the site has been completed, resulting in
terraces and 2H:1V alternating slopes, as well as stormwater runoff basins at the south
and west sides of the site. The south basin acts more as a sediment catch-basin than a
stormwater basin, but the west is configured to hold runoff from directly above the last
bench, and allow it to percolate downward. Granite deposits and outcroppings cross the
site from north to south, with the mine road running through and around the permit area
3) The site is very topsoil-poor, very steep, and very rocky. Seeding and tree-planting have
not been completed yet, but all other reclamation (with the exception of dealing with the
building) has been completed.
4) A few abandoned pipes and an abandoned drum have been left on the site. These should be
removed as soon as possible. (PHI)
5) The recent storms at the site have washed gullies downward across the entire face of the
permit area. A stormwater control, such as a berm across the main road, must be enacted
in order to prevent further erosion from other storms in the near future. (P83)
All changes to the reclamation plan must be approved by DMG first, prior to implementation.
Any measures that would stabilize the slopes and allow the site to return to the beneficial
use designated by the permit, will be considered upon their submittal to the Division.
No other problems were noted at this time.
I & E Contact Address
cc: Carl B.
~ CE
~ BL
~ FS
~ HW
~ HMWMD
~ SE
WQCD
Mount, DMG
NAME Maxine Stewart
OPERATOR ITEC Environmental
STREET P.O.
