Dear Mr Shuey,
On October 17, 1994 Homestake received a copy of the above
inspection report for the Bulldog facility. Homestake does not
concur with all of the findings presented in this report and
requests a meeting to discuss and attempt to resolve the items
identified in this report. We believe a revised inspection report
may be appropriate.
Problems and Possible Violations
1) The mine identification sign has not been removed. The sign
remains onsite in full compliance with Rule 3.1.12 (1).
In addition, Homestake is working closely with the US Forest
Service to construct an interpretative sign at the mine
entrance in keeping with the historic mining eduction theme of
the area.
2) It is Homestake's understanding that the Division of Mining
and Geology (DMG) does not regulate stormwater permitting
issues. Homestake included the Bulldog facility under a
general stormwater application filed with EPA and the State of
Colorado. In addition, the Bulldog project is regulated by a
CPDS Permit, also under the authority of the Colorado
Department of Health (CDH).
The approved Reclamation Plan addresses all stormwater
management plans for the Bulldog Project. A copy of this plan
is on site. As referenced in the inspection report all
stormwater management practices (on the ground) were observed
to be in place.
