5. The operator will control annuals (weeds) and prevent their spread <br /> to off-site areas. <br /> 6. The operator will maintain a native plains shortgrass stand of <br /> vegetation adjacent to residential areas on the western portion of the <br /> Turnpike Pit. <br /> 7. The operator will assist residential landowners and occupants in <br /> maintaining a fire break on lands immediately adjacent to homesites <br /> bordering Flatiron property where annuals are of sufficient height <br /> to pose a fire hazard. Additionally, the operator will establish suit- <br /> able drainage for runoff from Flatiron property, and for drainage <br /> immediately adjacent to, and east of, the homesites. <br /> B. For comments pertaining to the Deepe Farm Pit, please refer to the <br /> adequacy letter for the Deepe Farm Pit of March 29, 1982. <br /> VI. Division Recommendations <br /> A. The following recommendations are intended to supplement the existing <br /> annual reports submitted by Flatiron Sand and Gravel Co. and to assist the operator <br /> in maintaining conformance with the Mined Land Reclamation Act, as it regards the <br /> Turnpike Pit. <br /> 1. Give the disposition and location of remaining stockpiles of <br /> topsoil. <br /> 2. Give the disposition and new timetable for backfilling, grading, <br /> and revegetation for Stages 1 and 2 of the Turnpike Pit. <br /> 3. Give the disposition of deposit stockpile renewal and new time- <br /> table and methodology for reclamation of the stockpile area at the Turnpike <br /> Pit. <br /> 4. Indicate if any areas to the east, and outside, of the permit area <br /> of the Turnpike Pit will need to be amended to the existing permit as <br /> a result of mining-related activities by Flatiron Sand and Gravel Co. If <br /> so, indicate the anticipated date for submittal of an amendment application. <br /> 5. Update the Division as it pertains to other agreements reached <br /> informally at the site, in the next Annual Report. <br /> 6. Control pocket gopher activity along the control berm, in order <br /> to minimize injury to tree plantings. <br /> 7. Describe the nature of the fill material used at the Turnpike <br /> Pit, and any evidence that asphalt waste is inert. The Division requests <br /> that all fill be clean and non-polluting. <br />
