Please see page 5 for details.
7. The bone yard area contained a 5-gallon pail nearly full of waste oil and a spill of
anti-freeze. These fluids had apparently come from a nearby abandoned automobile. These
fluids were uncontained and in close proximity to the mined pit and associated water system.
The presence of the anti-freeze spill and uncontained waste oil is considered to be problem.
In accordance with Rule 3.1.5(5) of the Construction Material Rules & Regulations, the
Division requests that the permittee or operator remove and properly dispose of these fluids
and all anti-freeze contaminated soil. The Division recommends that you contact the Colorado
Department of Health, Waste Management & Hazardous Materials Division for proper disposal
procedures. Please see page 5 far details.
8. The equipment boneyard area contained 26 flatbed trailer loads and the processing plant
area contained 12 flatbed trailer loads of non-roadable mining equipment to be removed during
final reclamation. The Division estimates that a boom truck or large front end Loader and
two (2) assistants will be needed to load the equipment onto flatbed trailers.
