COLORnD0 81212 719-269-1173 FA% 719-2691148
Mr. Jim Stevens RECEIVED
Department of Minerals & Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 APR 1 4 '1998
Denver, CO 80203-2273
Re: T.H.E. Aggregate Source
Dear Mr. Stevens:
I received your letter
performed on our storm-water
to go over the items one by
Division of fulinerafs 8 Geobgy
today concerning the inspection you
structures and system. I w~~uld like
one in this letter.
1. The ditch to carry overflow from pond #1 to ponds 5,6 & 7:
The ditch was obstructed with two rock piles as you noted. This
shouldn't have occurred. I have gotten with the quarry employees
and emphasized the importance of keeping this drainage open at all
times. Within 5 days of this letter, we will have it c~~mpletely
unobstructed and it will remain that way.
2. We will conduct a volume survey of ponds 5 and i. If the
ponds are not adequate as far as volume is concerned, I will build
another pond to meet or exceed the volume requirements.
3. Old haul road access: Before we get to your notes on this
portion of the storm water plan, I would like to point out that Tom
Schreiner and I, on one occasion, and Ken Klco and Tom S~~hreiner,
on another occasion, did a walk thru from pond No. 1 i:o Tunnel
Drive. Tom Schreiner said this portion of the storm water
management was acceptable. I know there is some minor deviation
from what is actually built and what is on the drawing - but I feel
what we have built accomplishes what we are all after. I am aware
there is no culvert at the direct outflow of pond #2, but there is
a 36" culvert just 75 feet upstream of pond #2. It seems that two
36" culverts within 75 feet is a waste. We will ina•tall the
interior rip rap and the concrete block if you insist. There is
now such a minimal amount of run off toward Tunnel Drive with the
changes made in the pit that I don't believe pond #2 would ever
fill, even in a 100 year event.
We will rip rap the outfall from the 36" pipe to po:id #3.
we will eliminate the terrace at the west end of po.zd #3.
