The following
paragraphs will address each issue.
1) Diesel fuel tank liner: Sierra personnel will empty the water from the liner and pull up the
north end of the liner where it apparently has slumped.
2) Sediment Pond: The sediment pond needs to be cleared of blocks that had been dumped into
it by the prior operator, Colorado Yule Marble Company (CYMC). It makes the most sense to
do this at the same time as other stabilization work on the slope where CYMC created a possible
unstable slope on the waste pile. The Division of Minerals and Geology is currently planning to
correct damage caused by CYMC using bond money posted by CYMC. Sierra has not dumped
any fines on the waste pile, and no migration of fines has been observed below the sediment pond.
Until the sediment pond is repaired, Sierra plans no dumping of fines on the waste pile.
3) Quarry Water Discharge: Water accumulates in the quarry in a sediment pond. With
Spring runoff, excess water is pumped up and out the south portal of the quarry, then over to
Yule Creek. Sierra has sampled the discharge water and filed the required reports with the
Colorado Department of Health. All sampled water is well within all applicable standards.
4) Sediment Control on Roads within Affected Area: As observed, a sediment control berm
has been constructed near the portal to dvect water and sediment runoff into the quarry where it
can be dvected to the sediment pond. Sierra will add similar berms on up the access roads to the
south so that erosion of the roads is minimi~.ed and runoff water and sediments aze better directed
into the quarry sediment pond.
5) Stormwater Management on Quarry Access Road: The gravels and marble fines observed
