A small sediment pond is Located east of the gate at the mine entrance. This small pond was <br />found dry but holds a considerable amount of sediment, so much so that the riser was once <br />covered by sediment (see photo). Further runoff and piping around the user has resulted in <br />the removal and transport of some of this sediment downstream of this pond. The nearest <br />perennial stream is Newlin Creek, located some 1.5 miles downstream.
