i <br />III. COMMENTS - COP~PLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of ohser~ations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />The silt fence on the west side of the west portal main topsoil stockpile will need repair <br />before long. The silt fence on the south facing slope of [he west mine bench outslope also <br />will need repair soon. However, both areas are well vegetated. Straw bales were in place <br />and were functional. <br />Signs and Markers <br />Mine ID signs were up at the appropriate locations and contained the correct information. <br />Surface disturbance ntazkers were also present around the mine site. <br />Roads <br />All of the roads were in good shape and passable. Quite a few small rocks were on the <br />road up to the explosives magazine. Road ditches and culverts were in good shape. There <br />were no erosional problems with any of the roads. The road to the west mine fan area was <br />rutted but was passable. <br />Slope Stability <br />There were no geo-technical stability problems observed with any of the cut and fill <br />slopes around the mine site. <br />Gob Piles <br />There were no signs of geo-technical or erosional instability at the old waste pile and the <br />west ridge waste pile. Both piles were well vegetated and both have positive drainage. <br />The culverts and collection and diversion ditches were functional. There were no recent <br />additions to the west ridge waste pile. However, the straw bale in the notch of the berm at <br />the west ridge waste pile needs repair. <br />Records <br />All of the records were present and were in compliance. <br />c:Urts97\bowie ! \insp 1000 <br />2 <br />
