Colowyo C-1981-019
14 February 2007
Pg 4/5 QJ~~
Hydrologic Balance (cont.): - Gulch A Pond (cont.) There is very little storage room
and detention time because of this. The Division will check the quarterly DMR's for
the discharge to see if any exceedences have occurred at the Gulch A pond as a
result. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at
the time of the inspection. No erosional problems noted on the embankment at the
time of the inspection. The emergency spillway is an open, trapezoidal riprapped
channel. The spillway was stable and well maintained at the time of the inspection.
Goodspring Creek was flowing at the time of the inspection.
-Sump 1 was filled with sediment due to all of the rain and runoff from the snow melt
over the past weekend. The sump needs to be cleaned. The sump appeared to be
stable at the time of the inspection.
-Sump 2 was filled with sediment due to all of the rain and runoff from the snow melt
over the past weekend. The sump needs to be cleaned. The sump appeared to be
stable at the time of the inspection.
-Sump 3 was filled with sediment due to all of the rain and runoff from the snow melt
over the past weekend. The sump needs to be cleaned. The sump appeared to be
stable at the time of the inspection.
-Sump 4 was filled with sediment due to all of the rain and runoff from the snow melt
over the past weekend. The sump needs to be cleaned. The sump appeared to be
stable at the time of the inspection.
-Sump 5 was covered with snow at the time of the inspection so it was impossible to
tell what was under the snow. Based on Sumps 1-4 it is probable that it is filled with
sediment as well. If this is the case, Sump 5 needs fo be cleaned as well. The sump
appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection.
Backfilling and Grading: -The operator has completed more work on the East side of
the East Pit with the 101 dragline. The dragline was walking back to the north working
on the second cut in the wedge it is working on. The dragline is more than half of the
way along on this cut. After this second cut is completed, it appears as though there
are two more cuts remaining until the wedge is filled in.
-The 102 dragline has completed some reclamation work at the west edge of the
West Pit. This reclamation was performed last month.
Support Facilities: -The facilities area was wet and muddy but in good condition at
the time of the inspection. No problems were noted with the area.
-The Gossard Loadout was wet but appeared to be stable and in good condition at
the time of the inspection.
General Mine Plan Compliance: -The 101 dragline is in the East Pit performing
reclamation. The 102 dragline was removing D-seam overburden. The 103 dragline
was removing E-Seam overburden.
- The 1 14 shovel operation was currently working on removing the A-Seam
overburden.
-The operator was removing and hauling coal from the X-seam at the time of the
inspection.
