Hydrologic Balance
The sediment pond held water in the portion of the pond that was cleaned of sediment one
year ago. It was not discharging. The pond embankment and the emergency spillway were
observed and appeared normal. The pond inlet shows no erosion as it located on solid
bedrock. Culverts site-wide were found open and appeared functional. Diversion ditches
were also observed and no problems were noted.
Processing Waste
The refuse disposal area was traversed on foot. No damage or slumps were observed. A
small seep was noted low in the south-facing highwall. This seep has been observed in
previous years and typically dries up during the early summer. No instability has been
observed in or around this "damp area". The refuse contour berm was found intact and in
good condition, as was refuse ditch #1 and ditch #2. The 100-year ditch was walked along
its entire length and found in good condition.
Revegetation
The south-facing revegetated areas are beginning to show signs of early growth due to good
moisture and periodic warming temperatures. Cattle or evidence of grazing were not
observed on the reclamation.
Qverall, the site appeared in normal cond+tion for the late winter season.
