F

II. Compliance caith Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act
CRS 1973, as amended 39-33-201, et. sue.,
and the
Rules and Regulations Issued Pursuant to the Act
This includes a listing of the particular provisions of the regulatory program which were
examined during the course of this inspection, and identifies enforcement actions taken
during the inspection for failure to comply with the Rules and Regulations, the Act and
the permit.
4.02 - Signs and P1arkers
The mine identification sign was in place. The sign was moved closer to the mine
operation because of house construction near the former location.
Perimeter markers must be placed around that portion of the permit area that is disturbed
by surface operations.
4.03 - Roads
The roads within the area were well maintained.
4.05 - Hydrologic Balance
The upper diversion ditch needs to be cleaned at a point about 200 feet south of the north
end.
The diversion ditch along the refuse pile road needs to be deepened.
A concrete sill has been placed around the fuel storage tanks to keep spills from entering
the drainage system.
4.06 - Topsoil
No topsoil has been previously salvaged at this mine. However, in preparation for dumping
coal refuse in the recently approved area, the material that covered the old strip pit has
been salvaged.
