111. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
At the former slide azea above the ash pit, the diversion ditches were functional and no
movement was detectible at the visual movement mazkers. The seep that developed in the center
of the slump area was wet but not flowing. There was a discharge of less than 5 GPM out of the
french drain, mostly from the gravel rather than the pipe. The two monitoring wells are still in
place at the request of the Division, although the monitoring has been discontinued.
Pit Areas
There are two draglines working Ashmore pit, one in the northern end and one in the sou[hem
end. A bulldozer was grading the spoil behind the pit. Portions of one spoil ridge remained. The
eastern side of the Ashmore pi[ has been graded to a more gentle slope than is customary, in
order to reduce the possibility of further slides within the pit.
There was a slide in Derringer pit, on the east side. Presently, the dragline is working on the west
side. Most of the Hawkins pits, north and south, have been backfilled and graded. There was no
activity in the Enfield pit. Terracing and drilling continues at the Flintlock pit.
Records
Please see the following records checklist. All of the records were in compliance.
