Shelton <br />Director <br />hl E M O R A N D U M <br />TO: Dave Shelton and Joe Zalkind <br />FROM: Jim hlcArdle ~~ <br />DATE: May 10, 1982 <br />RE: hlay G, 1482 Inspection of Surface Disturbance Conditions at the CoZOny <br />Shale Oil Project - File N80-47 <br />Representatives of Exxon Company, U.S.A., Sosco and the Division of Mined Land <br />Reclamation inspected and documented all of the surface disturbance on the <br />entire permit area. Jim Pendleton, Roy Cox, Jerry Zimpfer and Z represented <br />the Division while Mark Schuster and Ron Bissinger were among those represent- <br />ing Tosco and Exxon respectively. <br />h1y observations were as follows: <br />A. A total of 5 sediment ponds were constructed on Parachute Creek from <br />the site of the old Tosco Retort to the Guard Station. <br />B. The access road from county road 215 to the Guard Station is being <br />worked on with heavy equipment to improve the surface and shoulders. No <br />other improvements were noted. That portion of the access road on the <br />Lindauer Meadow has been partially completed. <br />C. The access road from the Tosco Retort to the Process Plan site has <br />been constructed. The road has been rough graded with little further <br />improvement. <br />D. The mine bench has been completed. The bench face has been rip-rapped <br />and the concrete overdrain has been built. The crusher foundation has been <br />excavated into the Mine Bench and the crusher bed is being prepaired. The <br />underground conveyor incline has been partially completed together with a <br />number of mine portals. <br />E. The catchment pond above the mine bench on Middle Fork has been <br />completed. The stream above the catchment pond has been blocked by a large <br />volume of debris. <br />F. The water diversion pipe foundation is being prepared at Che Middle <br />Fork Narrows. The rock foundation cut for Middle Fork Dam has been completed. <br />G. Road disturbance, topsoil stockpiles and a stream gauge station exists <br />at the end of the property on.Middle Fork. <br />
