III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
CEC has conducted weed management practices for control of cheatgrass in area 18 as well as other
reclamation azeas not included in this bond release application. CEC works with the Weld County
extension service to time burning of the cheatgrass for maximum mortality. Evidence of the June 2005
burning of the cheatgrass was noted in azea 18. These burned areas had a nice emergence of the
desirable perennial grasses.
Reclaimed pazcels that aze adjacent to undisturbed azeas; 18, 14 and 8, grade nicely into the
undisturbed topography with no ditches or berms separating these topographies. Runoff from the
undisturbed azeas would flow onto the reclaimed areas and be controlled by the existing drainage
controls existing on the mine site.
Six (6) pages of photographs accompany this report.
