fie access road drainage ditch leading #o Pond 5 needs maintenance work in a few
locations. Water has cut around some of the steel "drop structures" in the ditch.
There are also same locations where sediment h beginning to accumulate and side
slopes are soughing into the dffch, whkh should be maintained. ff appeared that
water flowing flxough the 30" CMP into Pond 5 was seeping around the culvert. This
flour needs to be reestabOshed inside the culvert.
The diversbn around the refuse disposal area has been compromised by relocation
of the ramp onto the pile that the haul trucla are using. The dffch to this area needs
to be reestablished and maintained at all times.
A spring was observed in the Magpie Leek dNerslon just upsheam from fhe ouflet of
The Pond 1 discharge pipe. There was a skriv flow (less than 1 gpm) coming from the
ground on the GEC side of the drainage. AI Weaver said the spring appeared about
three years ago and thought it was coming from ilia Red Lantern coal seam in some
underground wortdngs on That side of the drainage.
Refuse was being hauled to the acflve end of the refuse pile where n was being
spread and compacted by o front end loader. EFCI is preparing to seed the portion
of the pile whkh was recently covered with topsoil.
The reckshned loadout was recently disked up in preparaflon for reseeding. The
operator felt that the initial seeding was not successful. They plan to reseed the area
prix to spring snow stoma and snowrr~elt. The area was dry at the time of the
inspecflon.
