~~ ~~3 SoK/t'hG~ C-Stl-a'~
~~y v1 ~
- Both of the ponds at the loadout were dry at the time of the inspection. The pond
embankments were stable and well vegetated.
Processing Waste: The refuse pile remains stable. There were no signs of erosion on
the newly reclairr,ed slopes of the pile and very little sediment has been deposited in
the 100-year ditch around the refuse pile or at the inlet to Pond 4. The cover crop
that was planted on the newly regraded portion of the refuse pile appears fo be
growing.
Subsidence: Bob Saunders called the Division on 18 April 2003 to express his concern
witf, two subsidence holes on their (the Vento) property. The Division inspected the
site on 23 April 2003 and found one hole at the historic Vento Mine (but it was not the
hole Mr. Saunders was talking about). On this inspection the Saunders'
accompanied George Patterson and myself on the inspection and showed us the
two holes he was talking about.
The first hole was on the slope of a drainage south of the refuse pile, approximately
20 feet above a historic fan and a portal area, This hole was approximately 15' x 20'
across and approximately 25' deep.
