(consultant for Albert Frei and Sons, <br />Inc.j which responded to concems detailed in our March <br />23, 2007 comment letter. We believe that our concerns <br />were not adequately addressed in Environment's <br />correspondence. Asa 208 agency whose membership <br />includes 20 municipalities, counties, and dischargers <br />located in the upper Clear Creek Watershed in Clear <br />Creek and Gilpin Counties, we are very concerned about <br />the water quality impacts of the Frei mining operations on <br />Clear Creek. <br />Portions of the quarry have been paved for some time <br />now, and as depicted in these photos, it is visibly obvious <br />that pavement is not preventing sediment from reaching <br />Clear Creek. Additional paving will not prevent additional <br />sediment loading. We believe that current sweeper <br />efforts add sediment to the waterway, as well. <br />We request that Clear Creek County require Albert Frei <br />and Sons, Inc. to develop and implement a water quality <br />monitoring program that measures flows, sediments, and <br />nutrients entering Clear Creek from this facility.
