III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations <br />made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during <br />the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Janet Binns, of Colorado Division of Minerals and <br />Geology. Mr. Billy Nicholson of Trapper Mining Inc. accompanied the inspection. The weather was <br />warm and clear, clouding up in the afternoon. The mine is an active surface mine. <br />Roads: The LOM (Life-of--Mine) haulroad was in the process of being graded, and haul road ditches <br />reshaped in preparation for MgCIZ application this coming weekend. A water truck was actively <br />watering the haul road during the inspection. Haul roads throughout the mine site remain in good <br />condition. Access roads were maintained and passable. <br />Hydrologic Balance: <br />Ponds were inspected: <br />Pond Name NPDES # Condition <br />East Flume 023 Holding water -oft. below spillway. <br /> Veg establishing on side slopes. <br />East Middle Flume #3 021 Holding water just to spillway. Not <br /> discharging. <br /> Algal growth in pond <br />Middle Flume #3 Sediment delta needs cleanout. <br /> Sed. marker below water level and <br /> not located. White top on <br /> embankment needs spraying. <br /> Pond just discharging. <br />Middle Flume #1 Small pool of water well below <br /> spillway. Some downcutting of <br /> inlet. <br />Horse #1 018 Holding water well below spillway. <br /> Veg. Becoming established on <br /> embankments <br />West Horse Survey markers staked. Brushing <br /> and topsoil stripping to begin soon. <br />Oak #2 017 Dry, erosion control fabric in <br /> bottom of pond. <br />Oak #1 Holding water well below spillway <br />Sage #1 and 2 016 Dry, welt vegetated <br />Grouse #2 015 Dry, well vegetated, white top on <br /> embankment <br />Grouse #1 Holding water well below discharge <br /> level, white top on embankment <br />West Flume Holding water below cleanout as <br /> identified on sediment marker. <br /> Embankments well vegetated. <br />East Pyeatt #3 011 holding water, not discharging <br /> Zygadenas venonousous(death <br /> camas) prolific to east of East <br /> Pyeatt #3 embankment <br />East Pyeatt #1 & 2 Both holding water to spillway level <br />Maintenance needed <br />None <br />None <br />Clean out sediment. <br />Perform weed control <br />measures.
