~ ~ Re~ei~~d
Valco Inc.- Gunnison Concrete Division
Rozman Pit, Crested Butte
Weed Management Plan
Objective:
Sf P 2 g ?001
0
n c ~9oe a & Gep °9Y
The objective of this plan is to facilitate the implementation of a
noxious weed control program on lands affected by the Rozman Pit. This
plan will be for the duration of the project and an extended three year
period following the reclamation of the project.
Purpose⢠
The purpose of this plan is to provide procedures for the management of
the following designated noxious weeds and prevent the encroachment of
these weeds to adjacent properties.
Canada thistle Cirsium arvense
Oxeye daisy Chrysantheum leucanthemum
Scentless chamomile Matri ca ria perfora to
Yellow toadflax Linaria vulgaris
Authority:
Colorado Noxious Weed Act (C. R.S. 35-5. 5)
Management:
1. Valco will begin integrated management (Herbicide Control and
Revegetation) on the infestations of Canada thistle, oxeye daisy,
scentless chamomile and yellow toadflax.
2. After the infested areas have been treated with herbicide, they will
be reseeded as necessary to provide soil cover and competition for
noxious weeds. The seed mixture will contain species that compete
with noxious weeds and are compatible with the sight.
Treatment Schedule:
Due to the amount of disturbance associated with a gravel pit operation,
land associated with the pit will be treated with herbicides twice a
year as needed. Areas with bare exposed ground will be seeded with
desirable species to prevent soil erosion, maintain water quality, and
prevent the spread and/or invasion of State and/or County listed noxious
weeds.
It will be necessary to use more than one herbicide on the noxious weed
species present. The applicator for Valco should contact the Gunnison
County Weed Coordinator for chemical recormnendations.
It should be understood that all of the species listed above axe found
on adjacent properties. The Gunnison County Weed Coordinator is
currently working with the property owners to develop weed management
programs.
Before applying herbicides, the Val co applicator is strongly encouraged
to attend Private Pesticide Applicator training provided by the Gunnison
