Elk Creek C-1981-022 <br />13 December 2006 ~d <br />pg 3/3 <br />Topsoil: -The Elk Creek topsoil pile was covered with snow but appeared to be stable at the <br />time of the inspection. No erosional problems were noted. <br />Fish and Wildlife: -There was a herd of approximately 10 cow elk (that were visible) in the <br />drainage above the West Valley Fill. <br />Air Resource Protection: -There were no problems with fugitive dust on any of the haul <br />roads or from the coal stockpile at the time of the inspection. <br />- The coal stockpile was very low at the time of the inspection. Jim Kiger indicated that the <br />longwall has been down for several days. <br />Off-Site Support Facilities: -The Hubbard Creek fan pad was covered with several inches <br />of snow at the time of the inspection. There was also a large pile of snow at the edge of the <br />pile from plowing. The pad appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection and no <br />erosional problems were noted. The cut-slopes were stable at the time of the inspection and <br />no erosional problems were noted. The injection boreholes that are on the Hubbard Creek <br />fan pad were stable at the time of the inspection. The road to the Hubbard Creek fan site <br />was covered with snow. There were some ruts on the road from the hunters and outfitters <br />but overall the road was stable and in good condition. <br />Overall, the Elk Creek and Sanborn Creek Mine site is in good condition. <br />
