This ie an 8.2 acre, high and dry
110 gravel pit and the current bond is a $5,000.00 certificate of deposit. Six to seven
acres have been mined leaving a horseshoe shaped pit which daylights to the west. The pit
is situated on top of a terrace with 25' highwalls along three aides. A pre-cast cement
plant, Mountain Park Concrete Co., is located adjacent to the operation's west side. The
permit boundary was marked with steel fence poets.
The reclamation plan includes grading the elopes to no steeper than 3:1 (horizontal to
vertical), replacing all topsoil which had been removed (2-4" estimated), tillage, and
seeding. An area measuring about 150'x 25' has been excavated outside the permit boundary
in the southern corner of the permit. Along the southeastern permit boundary, the pit has
been mined up to the boundary line. Topsoil stockpiles were observed outside the permit
boundary along the southern and eastern margins of the permit and one additional topsoil
stockpile is located about 1,000 feet south of the permit area. (See PV-1) The land on
which these disturbances are located is owned by the operator.
The Division has re-evaluated the bond amount necessary to reclaim the permit at today's
costa and performance standards. The calculations are enclosed with this report and
represent the amount necessary to retain a contractor to reclaim the permit according to the
approved reclamation plan. (See PB-2)
Sand and gravel is processed in a wash plant on-site. This is not included in the approved
mining plan. A description of this facility will need to be submitted and approved by the
Division. (See P8-3)
The operator indicated that they are contemplating converting this operation to a 112 permit.
The requirements for submitting an application to convert a permit are included in Rule 1.11
of the Rules and Regulations. Enclosed is a Rules and Regulations packet and a 112
application form.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Ron Thompson
OPERATOR Thompson Properties
STREET P.O.
