III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments indude discussion of observations <br />made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during <br />the inspection and the fads or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />RDA Pond <br />The embankment for the RDA pond was inspected .This pond is an MSHA pond <br />with a maximum capacity of 30 acre feet. The pond embankments were well <br />vegetated. There was a sediment delta at the inlet. <br />Coal Stockpiles <br />Coal stockpiles have been reduced due to the longwall being shut down. The <br />ditches around the development coal waste pile were clear and functioning. The <br />wash plant was down during this inspection. <br />The lower slopes of the Development Coal Waste Pile were vegetated. Culvert <br />C37 at the north end of the waste pile was Gear and functioning. Pond 004a has <br />had the drilling mud removed. The south embankment that had been disturbed <br />during the Geanup was re-mulched. Ditches D3, D10, D13 were clear and <br />functioning. Culverts C-6, C-7, C-8, C-9 were atl Gear and functioning. <br />West Portal <br />Ditches along the road to the C8W roundhouse were Gear and functioning. <br />Ditches, culverts, SAEs and containments were working. The undisturbed <br />drainage east of the non~oa/ storage area will require maintainance. In the <br />channel leading into the cuhrert there was some minor downcutting, most likely <br />from the storm last year. Some rock or channel armoring will be needed to <br />prevent head cutting into the undisturbed area. Also a piece of sheet metal had <br />blown off the storage pile into this drainage.
