(Page 31
MINE ID a OR PROSPECTING ID N M-79-166
INSPECTION DATE 6-18-97 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
mining and reclamation plans and conditions observed during the inspection, will be forthcoming.
The pit embankments are to be maintained at a 3:1 grade during mining. The pit embankments currently
have several areas which are steeper than 3:1, especially on the west end. The operator must regrade these
slopes to a 3:1 or less steep grade as soon as possible and notify the Division upon completion. If the
regrading is not complete at the time the reclamation estimate is recalculated, the financial warranty will be
increased to include costs for completing this task.
The operator needs to perform weed control measures on the affected areas of the operation. Russian
knapweed was observed in several large patches around the permit area. Rule 3.1 .1016) states that weed
control shall be employed for all prohibited noxious weed species, and whenever invasion of a reclaimed area
by other weed species seriously threatens the continued development of the desired vegetation. Weed
control methods shall also be used whenever the inhabitation of the reclaimed area by weeds threatens
further spread of serious weed pests to nearby areas. A list of noxious and problem weeds and control
techniques for these species can be obtained from the County Extension Service, the County Weed Control
District Office, or the local office of the Soil Conservation Service.
SW/4 SE/4 Sec. 1 1 , T1 5S, R96W, 6th P.M.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Earl and Beckv Bennett
OPERATOR Bennett's Gravel
STREET 1470 Hiahwav 50
CITY/STATE/ZIP Delta, Colorado 81416
cc: Tom Gillis, DMG
CE -Randy Snyder -Grand Junction
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD ICHI
~] SE -Denver Office
^ WQCD ICHI
~( OTHER - USFWS -Grand Junction
