(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: ~-~ y~~-5~~
INSPECTION DATE: e-'~-n~ INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ~~
OBSERVATIONS
The division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site at the request of the operator on 4-30-03.On 4-16-03,
the Divlslon received a letter from Mr. Bj Fuller of TransN mix requesting a site inspection. The site used to be a
large 112 sand and gravel operation. The post mining land use for the sRe is PRIVATE RECREATION, AGRICULTURE
AND RESIDENTIAL. Mining in the west side of the permit area is now complete and most of the mining related
equipment has been removed from site. The main purpose of this Inspection was to try to see if there was any
possible way the Division could release a portion of the Divebliss and LINak portion of the permit area that was
not released In 1998. These areas were seeded in 1997 and reseeded again in 1999. Transit Mix feels that due to
Mr. Dlvelbiss's right to use these areas for recreation purposes, it has been difficuR to keep the vegetation
growth adequate enough to have the site released. In addition to the lack of vegetation, due to adjacent land
being covered with noxious weed, even with their weed control plan, they have been unable to keep the
weeds away from the permit area. When the lake areas were released in 1999, the Divlslon denied the release
of these two areas due to weed infestation and lack of vegetation growth. At that time, the operators had stated
the same problems in 1999, but due to the above problems, the release request was denied. The same problem
noted during the last inspection was noted during this inspection on 4-30-03. Even though the operator had
spread chemicals for noxious weed control, weeds were noted through out fhe reclaimed areas. The Division
understands the operator's futile effort to reclaim the site, with that in mind, the DNision will schedule an
Inspection of the sffe with our WEED and vegetation expert, Mr. Tony Waldron to see if there is a way to
accommodate the wishes of the operator. Attached with this Inspection report is a letter written by Mr. Jerry
Hermans, Viee President, and Transit Mix Pueblo, explaining the difficulty they are facing with reclaiming these
ores.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mr. Jerry Hermans
OPERATOR: Transit Mix A8gre8ates
STREET: P_n a~x ~s~9
CITY/STATE/ZIP: C'nlnmdn SpringL Cn Rn901
Harry Posey (e-mail)
cc: ^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
