• (Page 2) •
MINE ID I OR PROSPECTING ID f M-84-036
INSPECTION DATE 09/12/96 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS CLK
OBSERVATIONS
The following observations were made during a routine inspection of this open 112 pit.
1. Signs and boundary markers were posted as required by the Rules.
2. At this time, the lake is approximately 29.5 acres in size. It is planned that the entire
lake will be backfilled; pending direction from OSE, no action is being taken. There is not
enough fill onsite to complete this reclamation task at this time.
3. The mining and reclamation plans are being followed.. No reclamation work has been done
onsite at this time.Z34.4 acres is being used as a processing area; 29.5 acres is the
approximate size of the lake; and 41.9 acres is in the process of being mined, with all of
the topsoil stripped and trenches being dug along the southern boundary.
4. Topsoil was stockpiled along the southern and western boundaries, as well as in the
center of the new pit (measurements were also taken of the stockpiles along the western side
of the pond, then multiplied by six to get an estimate of the soil stockpiled there,,"since
heavy traffic prevented direct measurement). Approximately 54,200 CY stored onsite was
measured at this time, enough to reclaim a disturbed area of 67.2 acres. The total acreage
of the site which will need topsoiling is assumed (at this time) to be 71.3 acres. The
topsoil deficit is thus 3315 CY at this time (if 34.4 acres of process area will be ripped,
and not require re-topsoiling) . DMG requires a current sample of the dirt currently covering
the processing area, as proof that the area will not need to be re-covered with topsoil.
S. The bond will be recalculated based on the topsoil deficit, and reclamation tasks to be
finished (including backfilling the pond) in approximately two weeks.
I B E Contact Address cc.
