The
permit for the site has been revoked and the bond torfeihed. All available bond money has been
e.+zpended to reclaim the site, and there are currently no other funds available for site repair or
maintenance.
UUeather conditions were dry. The ground was wet in bw lying areas, but othennrise dry. K had
rained in the area the past two nghta, and there had been considerable rains in the past two weeks.
Reve9etetion
Theduckpondareavegetation'sinexaellentconddbn. At leastaadifferentgrassea,numerous
forte, sage, and yucca were obsenred. Erosional features in the duck pond area were showing
egos otatabil'vation, with new uegetation emerging in the gullyaides and tx~ma. Erosion in this
area had lasso minimal prior to eatabl'IShment of vegetaton, and there are no sgna of active erasion
at this time.
Vegetation in the tpplelbadout area is fair. Grasses are Doming in, but vegetation on the disturbed
areas is dominahed byv~reeds and aunflo~nrers.
Vegetation on the Orphan Pit exhibits good orn~erand re fairtydiuerse. The gully running through the
center caf the Orphan Pit a showing sgna of atabil¢atbn.
ThenorthvveatslopeaofChen'aHillwereatillactivetyeroding. Prevbuslyexietinggulliesvveremuch
deeper, ae much as 3' in places. No new gullies had formed, and vegetation surrounding the gullies
was well established.
Exieling gullies on the abpea of the East Pil abo appeared to have further degraded, but no new
gullies were apparent. Vegetative ~+rer is good in moat areas in the pit, exrs_pt for a few pabjhes
whet there appear to tae soil problems.
The east wall of the West Pit, where gullies had farmed, had eroded further. Gullies in this area
were approaimatiety 2' deep. Aa with most ocher areas, vegetation between gullies was d'nrerae with
fair to good cover.
Fish and Wi{dlite
A fawn was obeenred just northeast of the Orphan Pit.
Hvdroia~ic Bat3nee
h was apparent thatasgnIficantamountof runoff had passed through the sedimentation pond.
There was a 2'•3' gully through the center of the pond, and the pond itself was nearly full of sediment.
Runoff through the pond hoe apparently continued toppe stag the primary spillway. Magpie Creek,
ataove and taebuv the pond has still been actively eroding, with no sgna of stabilisation.
The bvverend of the West Pit channel was stable and in good condition. Erosion was moderate in
the upper and middle sections of the channel.
C-81-007 July 39, 1997
