The furrows were
surveyed stacked and placed. Either a grader or a dozer was used to place the
contour furrow. On steeper slopes a grader was unable to get the angle of cut to
make a furrow close to the design so a dozer was used. Contours were placed 85
feet apart. Many of the furrows had already filled with snow. The permit requires a
3.5:1 slope but most of the western wall of the 720 is at 4:0.
Ditch A-2 was walked. Ditch A-2 primarily handles water from the
undisturbed area and carries it across the disturbed area. Ditch A-1 looks as if no
longer serves to contain runoff from the topsoil and subsoil stockpiles. This ditch is
oversized for the small area of undisturbed area it seems to handle. This ditch should
be reclaimed if no longer needed. This ditch empties into a natural gully and is
Comments Page 2
