The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The Rimrock Mine consists of approximately seven acres of
reclamation. The 2004 growing season is the eleventh (11) growing season after reseeding.
The ground was dry and the weather was warm.
Availability of Records
The public copy of the mine records is kept at the office of the Las Animas County Planner at
the county courthouse located in Trinidad. All records were found current and in compliance.
The results of this records check can be found on page 2a of this report.
Hydrologic Balance
The sediment pond at the site was dry. Adjacent Engleville Gulch was not flowing water. The
trickle tube spillway was clear of debris and the emergency spillway appeared in good
condition. Foxtail barley covered the bottom of the pond.
Foxtail Barley in sediment pond, Rimrock Mine, June 2004
