The two main rip-rapped channels on the
disturbed area west of the county road
had a good amount of vegetation growing
in them. This is by design. They were
functioning as designed. The ditch on
the west side of the disturbed area near
the up dip monitoring well is planned to
be removed at the time of phase II bond
release.
Backfilling and Grading -- All grading and backfilling has
been accomplished at this site.
Phase I bond release has been
granted at the mining site.
Reclamation at the loadout site has
not yet begun and the site is under
temporary cessation. However the
sale of the loadout is currently
pending to a company with an active
mining operation nearby and it
appears that the loadout will
became active again in the not to
distant future.
At the south end of the disturbed
area near the top of the hill was
evidence of an unstable slope.
According to company officials the
area is a seep area that has been
giving them trouble over some time.
They plan to try a drilling
program on the area to try to
divert the seep to the other side
of the hill so that the seep will
dry up somewhat. Hopefully that
will stop the movement.
Revegetation --- Revegetation at this site appears well
established and diverse. Cover appears very
good. The company will be applying to the
Office of Mined Land Reclamation for phase II
bond release in the near future.
