I <br />still seem to be somewhat confused as to the total excavations conducted. <br />You state that "five recent excavations were observed within or near the <br />surveyed area." I am assuming that you aze referring to the area that has been <br />flagged to indicate the location of the cultural sites. Am I correct in this <br />assumption? You also state that "evidence suggests that rubber tired backhoe <br />was utilized for the excavations. Excavation trenches appeared to have been <br />approximately 18" wide and 3' long." Are you stating that these, or some of <br />these excavation trenches aze within the flagged azea? <br />I have walked this land many times and I have found more than five test <br />trenches. The trenches I have located are approximately ten (10) feet long and <br />three (3) feet wide. Some of these trenches had been left open and they <br />measured nine (9) feet deep. I have photographs of the open trenches that I <br />would be happy to share with you. They were filled in after I notified BLM that <br />I had discovered open trenches. You also made no mention of the fact that a <br />
