:,
III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of CDMG. Karl Koehler
represented the operator
Snow pack has melted off. Vegetation has not yet started greening up. There has been no
recent precipitation. The ground was dry.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE
POndS - Trapper's new pond, Middle Flume #3.was less than 20% full of water. Flume
Spring was flowing into the pond at an estimated 20 gpm. The pond's inslopes and
embankment were in good condition and showed no signs of settling or gullying. Grass
appears to be germinating on the embankment. I measured the following slopes:
Embankment inslope 50%
Embankment outslope 40%
East bank of spillway 68%
(same as pond's east inslope which
also is cut into this hillside )
Spl'ings - In advance of Trapper's pit. I looked at the natural artesian spring, flume
Spring. Trapper's A-E pit will mine through this spring over the next few years. I found
no outcrop that directly identifies the source of the spring. Surface geology indicates
the 3rd White Sandstone would be the source. I measured the following field parameters
at various discharge points of the spring.
Flow,est Temp.,degrees Ec, mmhos pH
Location imated C
Next to wells GC-1. ,~ „ ~ 1200 7.7
GC-2, and GC-3 `'' yPm `'
Inlet of Middle
Flume #3 pond 20 gpm 6 1300 8.0
Standpipe with
bedsprings attached
(less than quarter 5 gpm 7 1400 7.g TK
mile upstream from
Middle Flume #3)
