(Page 2)
MINE ID ,~` OR PROSPECTING ID ~ M-91-133
INSPECTION DATE 10-30-92 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS HHP
OBSERVATIONS
This Bite visit was a pre-operational inspection. The operators have submitted a 112
application for a 30-acre gravel pit. The permit is in the adequacy phase of review, and
most items in the permit have been addressed.
The proposed pit area includes an unpermitted operation adjacent to the Rio San Antonio. The
floor of the old pit and the proposed floor of the new pit are approximately 8 feet above
mean high water, and approximately 20 feet above the present water line. On site are two
pits adjacent to the stream, run-of-mine stockpiles, and large topsoil and overburden
stockpiles. The topsoil stockpiles presently act ae a visual screen to Highway 285 traffic.
Though recently surveyed, some of the boundary markers are not visible. Because the
operation is not yet permitted, there is no identifying sign visible from the access road.
The plan for the operation ie to reclaim the north pit immediately, strip and reserve topsoil
adjacent to the south pit, and excavate generally away from the river, starting in the south
pit.
Access to both pits will be from an existing farm service road along the north boundary of
the permit. An existing access road that leads into the Rio San Antonio will be left in
place or lowered during mining. No mining will take place in the flood plain of the river.
Topsoil will be reserved far enough from the river bank eo that it will not erode into the
river. Topsoil stockpiles will be located eo that they will not need to be handled except
to return them to final grades. Topsoil stockpiles will be seeded with a native seed mix to
prevent erosion from wind or water, and weeds will be kept from them.
Water will not be impounded on site. The north pit will daylight to the river and have very
slight positive drainage and the south pit will be daylighted to the river if water collect a.
All boundaries of the proposed permit are more than 200 feet from any permanent and valuable
manmade structure, including fences and power lines.
i & E Contact Address cc: Jim Stevens, DMG
NAME Demetrio and Olive Valdez
OPERATOR Demetrio and Olive Valdez
STREET P.O.
