INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 3 FILE NO. 83-52 DATE: February 8; 1985 6. One of the pits was visited, the Charley pit. This pit is not within the 11 acres maximum disturbed area. The operator has backfilled and graded the pit. A stockpile of material (topsoil ) was across the drainage from the backfilled pit. This is apparently from another pit. The disturbed area at the Charley pit is 100 feet by 300 feet. 7. The operator has graded approximately three quarters of the fill (waste rock pile) above the site. The operator stated that there is more then 80 hours in machine time in and the grading is approximately two-thirds completed. After final grading this site will be topsoiled and seeded in accordance with the permit. The operator stated that this material was excavated during the plant site construction. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1 . Continue to store all detoxified cyanide processed material . Disposal of detoxified material is not presently permitted. (The Division is presently reviewing the plan for disposing of this material . ) 2. Submit a water sample analysis to the Division, prior to February 18, 1985. 3. Sample the detoxified cyanide processed material and analyze for total cyanide, free cyanide, chloride, and sulfate. Submit this information to the Division prior to March 1 , 1985. 4. Continue backfilling and grading as required at the pit sites and at the fill pile above the plant site. 5. Submit a map locating all pits or trenches excavated to date. Please state the approximate surface acreage disturbed at each pit and then total the surface acreage disturbed. Please include any new road building to the pits and state the approximate amount of material stockpiled adjacent to the larger pits. Also state which pits have been backfilled and graded. Please submit this information prior to February 22, 1985. Within the limits of the law, the State will hold information submitted to the Division confidential at the operator' s request. /wjh 780OF
