Offsite Support Facilities
No changes have occurred at the former NW-1 bleeder fan shaft. Vegetation on the Apache
Canyon vent shaft areas was doing well. The upper shaft area has been bisected by a road
built for coal-bed methane development. The cap on this vent is cracked in numerous
locations, both on the concrete cap itself as well as along the edges. The operator should
consider replacing this cap to prevent failure. Fencing around this site should also be
secured to prevent unauthorized entry as this land is part of the Bosque del Oso State
Wildlife Area.
Overall, the site appeared in good condition for the early summer. Maintenance activities
related to revegetation and the reference area as previously noted should be completed this
field season.
