This was a complete inspection conducted by Joe Dudash of the Colorado DMG. No one represented the operator during the field inspection. West Mine The as-built certification dimensions for the new ponds W-1 and W-2 at the west mine reclaimed portal bench were checked in the field. The DMG used a straight stick and a protractor to detemune dimensions. Because of the inherent inaccuracies of the measuring technique, only approximations were expected. The measured values, which follow, compazed favorably with the as-built values, within about 10 percent. The valve on the primazy dischazge tube of Pond W-1, the lower pond, was in the open position and should be closed. The primary tube valve on Pond W-2 was in the closed position but the fit could be better. This valve should be worked on a little more. There was a little water and ice in both ponds. The silt fence below Pond W-I needs some repair and extended laterally a little more. At the west mine fan area, there has been a little more settling over the backfilled vent shaft. Construction fencing was around the vent shaft area. The gate to the fan site was open and the mine ID sign was up. Some of the silt fence will need repair soon.
