Review of Blastine Ouerations of Summit Brick
2.0 ANALYSES of BLASTING IMPACTS
During detonation of explosive charges in rock, the available chemical energy is primarily
used in breaking and displacing the rockmass. However, some of the kinetic energy is
released in the form of vibration causing airborne noise, some concussion and strain waves,
and possibly flying rock. Injury to humans and animals or property damage may happen if
uncontrolled.
In this section, AG evaluates all the potentially damaging effects that blasting might have
on people, animals and property on and near the Fes, Stocks, 8-MihClav, Beaver
Creek, Patton, Cedariwood, and Edmondson Mines. Also in this section, AG
recommends specific measures that can be employed to mitigate reviewed blasting
impacts.
2.1 Impacts of Blast-Induced Ground Motion and Fracturing:
This purpose of this section is to evaluate the relative potential for all forms of damage that
might occur due to blast-induced ground motion or radial cracking. This section examines
their effects on neighboring property and utility lines and pipes. A short review of blast
vibration dynamics is also included at the beginning of the section to acquaint the reader
with various ground motion measures that are used in stmctural damage evaluations.
The following subsections analyze blast-motion impacts:
Section : ............................
