Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology. This former underground rn~ne was reclaimed and reseeded in 1996 and early
1997. Very dry conditions 10 days ago have yielded to extremely wet and muddy conditions
due to rain and snowfall. Thls will be the eighth growing season for the majority of the
reclaimed facility area.
Hydrologic Balance
A few wells remain to be completely abandoned and reclaimed. One is well 218, which is
located immediately west of the entrance road, dust south of the old railroad crossing. Two
casings exist at this site. One has been previously filled with grout, but the casing remains.
The other casing, likely a core hole. has not been grouted. Methane contaminates the soil
around these casings, Ilkely due to coal seams above the Maxwell seam that are known gas
producers.
