III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
coal pile. The coal dust was very localized and did not present a problem. No fugitive dust
problems were observed with any of the other operations.
The operator is working on the warehouse expansion project. There were no problems at the fuel
storage barn or with any of the other structwes.
Slope Stability
The small slide behind the warehouse has not been repaired yet. The repair work should be
performed soon before rains make repair work difficult. It was unclear at the time of the
inspection whether the slide has moved recently. Photographs of the slide were taken during this
inspection and will be compared with photographs taken during earlier inspections to determine
if there has been recent movement. There has not been any cracking behind the slide.
Some of the visual disturbance markers at the regraded slide above the portals have appeared to
have moved in the past few months. Photographs of the slide above the portals also were taken
during this inspection and will be compared with photographs taken during earlier inspections to
determine if and by how much there has been movement. The seep west of the slide above the
portals continues to flow.
Revegetation
Most of the cut and fill slopes have a fair amount of vegetation, considering the site was seeded
late last year. The day after this inspection, this year's seeding and mulching began. The
operator plans to revegetate the coverfill stockpile, new cut and fill slopes, the embankment of
pond C, the areajust to the west of pond D, the embankment face of pond B, the main topsoil
stockpile, the utility bench slopes and several azeas that need touching up.
ecords
The mine records were checked and were found to be in compliance. Please refer to the attached
records checklist.
c:\wp61 \bowie2\insp0698
