Elk Creek C-1981-022 <br />29 November 2006 ~~~ <br />P9 2/2 <br />Hydrologic Balance (cont.):- The ditches along the haul road to the Elk Creek facilities <br />area, the East Yard and old highway 133 were all cleaned and appeared to be stable and <br />functioning as designed. All of the sumps in the ditches were also cleaned out. No erosional <br />problems were noted in any of the ditches. <br />Processing Waste: -The West Valley Fill was covered with snow at the time of the <br />inspection. There were no piles of refuse waiting to be spread and compacted on the pile. It <br />was not possible to determine the condition of the pile at the time of the inspection due to the <br />snow. <br />-The reclaimed East Yard pile was covered with snow but appeared to remain stable. No <br />erosional problems were noted on the pile at the time of the inspection. <br />Topsoil: -The Elk Creek topsoil pile was covered with snow but appeared to be stable at the <br />time of the inspection. No erosional problems were noted. <br />Support Facilities: -The Sanborn Creek fan site was stable at the time of the inspection. <br />No erosional problems were noted. <br />- The substation #3 pad was stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems <br />were noted. <br />- Both the Sanborn Creek and Elk Creek Mine facilities areas were stable at the time of the <br />inspection. No erosional or other problems were noted at either site. <br />- The explosives magazine pad was stable at the time of the inspection. No problems were <br />noted on the pad. All four of the explosives magazines were locked at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />Air Resource Protection: -There were no problems with fugitive dust on any of the haul <br />roads or from the coal stockpile at the time of the inspection. <br />Overall, the Elk Creek and Sanborn Creek Mine site is in good condition. <br />
