reshaped swale at the back of the pike surface can be seen. Reshaping activities continue
to the east, as material is pushed toward the back of the pile to create benches and drainage
ditches. Improving drainage will greatly reduce the delivery of runoff to the downdrains and
pond 8 below the operational surface. Reshaping will also expedite the reclamation of the
surface of the pile, which will further reduce future storm runoff. The 100-year diversion
remains intact above the refuse pile.
Support Facilities
The operator was loading the 'grasshopper conveyors" located along the main access road
onto flatbed trucks for removal from the site. These structures are included in the cost
estimate and those removed are eligible to be included in any future bond release. Other
facilities remain unchanged since the last inspection.
Subsidence
The work to repair the collapse hole at the West Mine remains to be completed.
Overall, the site appeared in compliance and good condition for the winter season.
