During
this inspection, some thistle rosettes were observed on the berm. These rosettes are considered noxious. Pathfinder will
need to perform weed control on these weeds, and is encouraged to do so while the weed problem is still minor.
While sighting from the northwest corner permit boundary marker to the marker Pathfinder recently placed and claims is
the true permit boundary (just south of the wetland and east of the access road) it appears that the location of the penstock
rupture may not have been within the Pathfinder permit boundary. A significant portion of the fill and access road over
the fill remains within the permit boundary. DMG's concerns about the stability of the fill remain and must be addressed
as required in the inspection report for the November 12, 1999 inspection of the Pathfinder Pit. Based on phone
conversations Mr. Scott Smith held with the Division on August 16, 2000, Pathfinder agreed to provide a technical revision
to the permit to address this issue by no later than August 31, 2000.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division's purango Field Office. The address
is; Division of Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, phone no. 970-247-5062.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
Scott Smith
Pathfinder Development.
