Wallcer ~
Part I -Contemporaneous Reclamation - To be completed at least annually
Bacl~lling and Grading
Compare the following field conditions to approved plans using the reclamation cost estimate, mine
plan operations plan maps, post-mining topography maps, and maps from annual reclamation reports, etc.
Write a brief description of any observed discrepancies.
1. Number of open pits, portals, mine shafts, and/or adits.
There was one open pit, Pit B. Pit B is being reclaimed, working from the south to the north with flyash
backfill, 6 feet of spoil cover, and two feet of topsand cover. This is a surface mine. There are no mine shafts
or adits.
a. Approximate dimensions ofpits/openings.
The dimensions of the open Pit B as measured on the 2003 ARR Map are 700 feet (east-west) by 1,800 feet
(north-south). The inslopes are approximately 17%. The average depth is 19 feet.
Backfill, grading and seeding has been accomplished at Pit A.
2. All remaining spoil, destined for cover at Pit B, is stored in a spoil
storage azea.
3. Are there existing subsidence features that require bacl~lling and grading?
There aze no existing subsidence features that require backfilling or grading.
4. Lisi refuse areas and their locations.
Flyash from off site is being used as a part of the backfill in Pit B, and was placed during backfill of
Pit A. The reclamation plan calls for the disposal of remaining demolition materials in Pit B. There
was no non-coal refuse being disposed of on site at the time of the inspecfion. Materials from
demolished structures were disposed of in Pit A (PAP page 114).
a.
