III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the Inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />H~la3.' <br />The water level in the sedimentation pond was at the level of the primary dischazge pipe. <br />The gated valve was closed and no water was leaking through. Pond inslopes were well <br />vegetated. The embanlonent was stable and spillways were functional. <br />The Edwazds Mine portal spring water treatment pond was dischazging at about 20 <br />gallons per minute. The dischazge was orange in color but, in prior testing, has been <br />found to be in compliance with water quality standards. The pond embanlanent appeazed <br />to be stable. <br />The east seep was flowing at about 20 gpm. The west seep was wet but not flowing. _____ _ _ <br />-There were no pro ems with a uvra wells. However, the area azound AA-1 needs to <br />be graded so no surface water pools azound the well. The collection ditch leading to the <br />sediment pond had sufficient capacity. The road culvert at the gate was weeded over but <br />had sufficient capacity. The berm between the mine site and the river was functional. <br />Slide <br />The slide continues to slowly come down. Rock bracing and two steel columns aze <br />exposed. There was an odor of smoldering coal near the top of the slide azea. <br />Records <br />The records were found to be in compliance.
