Sedgwick County Road and Bridge Soil Borrow Area to Gravel Pit Conversion Page 7 <br /> 110(c) Operation Reclamation Permit July 3, 2025 <br /> Please refer to Appendix A for details regarding the surface water management strategy for the <br /> site. This plan was originally submitted with CDPHE as part of the original construction borrow <br /> area permit application in 2023. <br /> 2.5 Wildlife Information <br /> Although CPW did not conduct a site visit pursuant to the original permit obtained for use of the <br /> site as a soil borrow area, no significant impacts to local wildlife species or wildlife habitats have <br /> or can be reasonable anticipated to occur at the site during final reclamation operations <br /> 2.6 Climate <br /> The Climate in Sedgwick County according to U.S. Climate normals data from NOAA is as <br /> follows: Sedgwick County has a semi-arid/continental climate. The average annual precipitation <br /> is 16.7 inches. The annual temperature is 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Over the course of the year the <br /> temperature typically ranges from 14 degrees Fahrenheit to 86 degrees Fahrenheit . In the summer <br /> the temperature ranges from 58 degrees Fahrenheit to 86 degrees Fahrenheit. In the summer the <br /> temperature ranges from 14 degrees Fahrenheit to 40.5 degrees Fahrenheit. The average snowfall <br /> for the months of December through April is 20 inches. The l Om monthly mean wind speed ranges <br /> from 4 mph to 16 mph throughout the year. Strong winds occur from mid-winter through early <br /> spring,diminishing during the summer months. Wind gusts in Sedgwick County have reached up <br /> to 48 mph. Heavy storms are typical in the months of June through mid-August. Precipitation <br /> from heavy rains is likely to runoff and frequent high winds will evaporate precipitation as well so <br /> there is likely to be less precipitation available for vegetation than rainfall volumes. Weather can <br /> change rapidly, especially in the winter. Winter typically has cool to warm days and cold nights. <br /> Summer typically consists of hot days and cool nights. Tornadoes have occurred in Sedgwick <br /> County. <br />
